Day 83: Sun 9 Jun 24 - Coral Bay

Sun 9 Jun 24 - Coral Bay

14 to 28 Deg, partly cloudy with 20-30km/h NW winds, becoming light in the evening.

To start the day, I went for a very pleasant 6km walk over sand dunes and along the coastline to the boat ramp, then back to the township via the road. After breakfast we walked across the road to the bakery for coffee, then returned to dust off the snorkelling gear and we headed down to the beach. I haven't snorkelled for many years, but once I made my way out into the warm water, I quickly starting enjoying the experience again. The wind was a bit blustery, and visibility was not as clear as it would normally be, but unfortunately most of the coral that I saw looked dead and broken, and lacked colour. Nevertheless, there was an abundance of fish life of all shapes, colours and sizes including lots of stingrays. After about an hour, I decided to head back inshore to Noel where she was waiting for me on the beach under a shady tree. We headed back to the van for lunch, then had a quiet afternoon, including an LLD, before heading over for an afternoon gelato. I joined Paul across the road at the hotel for a late afternoon beer, then returned for a lovely home-away-from-home cooked roast lamb and vegetable dinner, topping of a very quiet and relaxing day.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's plans...🤞
