Fri 03 May 24 - Rockingham
18 to 21 Deg, partly cloudy with moderate SW winds all day. An early start to the day with a 10km drive to KJ's (Finger's) house in Warnbro at 07:00 where we had a light workout and walk, followed by a very healthy breakfast. We had to be in Booragoon, a suburb of Perth about 35km away, to collect a new computer by 1000, so breakfast was a bit rushed, but very tasty nonetheless. Afterwards, I returned to the van for a quick shower and change, then Fingers dropped by to chauffeur Noel and I in his tractor. Making our way through slow and heavy traffic, we arrived on time, collected the goods, then headed for Muffin Break for a coffee and muffin. Muffin Break would not have been my first choice, but the coffee was surprisingly good - the muffin on the other hand was another story.
After sitting and chatting for a short while, we made our way back to the car, then continued for a pleasant drive through Perth and Fremantle, stopping briefly in Fremantle to book what appears to be a very nice lunch venue for Monday. Fingers had to go to work for a couple of hours at 2:00pm. so he dropped Noel and I back at the van and continued on his way. For the remainder of the day, we went to a couple of caravan repair businesses to investigate repairing the faulty gas burner. Turns out we will need to have it checked by a qualified gas fitter, so it can wait until we return home. I then dropped Noel at the shopping centre for a couple of hours while I ventured out for a very pleasant bike ride around the Rockingham foreshore. We made a late call to go to an Italian restaurant for dinner. My Spaghetti Marinara was nice, but Noel's Fettucine Carbonara was very disappointing...so bad that she couldn't eat it because it was too salty. We complained, and they promptly replaced it with another dish, but it too was inedible - this time too bland. Both dishes looked watery, and neither resembled carbonara. For one of the easiest dishes to make on the menu, it was very disappointing. Thankfully, they only charged us for one meal. Back at the van, setting up the new computer will have to wait another day.
