Wed 03 Jul 24 - Baxter Gravel Pit to 13k Peg Lookout & Rest Area (429km)
This morning was 6 Deg, with a SSW wind making it feel very fresh. It was mostly clear when we drove away after another sluggish start at 08:45am, but the clouds soon rolled in and it began raining most of the day thereafter. The combination of strong gusting winds, at times heavy rain and much more traffic (especially road trains), made for a tiring day behind the wheel. Unfortunately we didn't factor in two time zone changes either, losing 1.5 hours on the way to our overnight stay about 13km from Border Village into South Australia along the Nullarbor. Our stay is overlooking the southern ocean, sharing the wide open space with about five other vans for the night, but there is little to see, as its raining and very windy outside. We're hoping for better conditions tomorrow, so that we can stop to enjoy some of the scenery on the rest of the way across the Nullarbor.
